Holiday Jewel Triangles

Yield

1/2 dozen

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 1/4 cup coconut
  • 2/3 cup each chopped red and green glace cherries

Directions

  1. cream buttere, sugar, egg and vanilla until light and creamy. Gradually addd flour, mixing until crumbly. Press firmly onto parchment paper lined 15 X 10 pan. Bake in 350 oven 5 -6 min. and set aside
  2. Stir together milk, orange juice, pecans, coconut and cherries. spread evenly over crust.
  3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes longer. Cool thoroughly and chill before cutting

Haysticks

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ cups butterscotch chips
  • ¼ cup butter or margarine
  • ¼ cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1 cup salted peanuts
  • 2 cups chowmein noodles

Directions

  1. Melt first four ingredients. Add the peanuts and noodles. Toss together well. Drop small clusters on waxed paper. Allow to stand until set.

Gingersnaps

5-6 dozen

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup hard margarine
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup fancy (mild) molasses – I used blackstrap
  • 2 ½ cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp salt
  • App ¼ cup granulated sugar

Directions

  1. Cream margarine and first amount of sugar in large bowl. Add egg. Beat well. Add molasses. Beat until smooth.
  2. Combine next 5 ingredients in medium bowl. Add to margarine mixture in 2 additions, mixing well after each addition until no dry flour remains. Roll into 1 inch balls.
  3. Roll each ball in second amount of sugar in small bowl until coated. Arrange about 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bae in 350 degree over for about 10 minutes until just firm. Let stand on cookie sheets for a bout 5 minutes before removing to wire racks to cool. Makes about 7 ½ dozen cookies (more like 5 dozen)

Ginger Cookies

3-4 dozen

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¾ cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tbsp molasses
  • ½ tsp ginger
  • ½ tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp soda (scant)

Directions

  1. Roll in ball, and then in sugar. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in 350 degree oven.

Forgotten Kisses

Yield

5-6 dozen

Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites
  • a few grains of salt
  • ½ tsp cream of tartar
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • 1 ½ cup min chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Beat whites till frothy. Add salt and cream of tartar. Beat till stiff. Add sugar beating all the time till mixture is glaced. Add vanilla.
  2. Divide mixture and tint with food coloring
  3. Fold in chocolate chips
  4. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Turn off and place kisses in over. Do not open for 5 hours
