Mixed Nut Bar

This recipe came from Betty Brown – It is so…….. good. Salty and sweet.

Yield

9×13 pan

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 can mixed nuts
  • 1 – 12 oz pkg butterscotch chips
  • 2 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup

Directions

  1. combine flour, salt , sugar, butter into 9 X 13 pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
  2. Spread mixed nuts over baked crust.
  3. Meanwhile, melt over low heat on in microwave,butterscotch chips, butter and corn syrup. Be careful not to boil. Heat till just melted. Drizzle melted topping over mixed nuts.
  4. Bake in 350 oven for 10 minutes only! Cool and cut in small pieces.

Mandarin Orange Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 white or yellow cake mix
  • 1 can (11 oz.) mandarin oranges and juice
  • ½ cup oil
  • 4 eggs – beat well
  • 1 – 8 oz. can crushed pineapple
  • 1 vanilla instant pudding

Directions

  1. Combine first 4 ingredients. Bake at 350º for 35 to 40 minutes. You can use either two nine inch layer cake pans or a 9 X 13 cake pan
  2. Mix together pineapple and pudding and put on top of cake, and between layers
  3. Keep refrigerated.

  1. In cake pan put
  2. ½ cup melted butter
  3. 1 cup graham crackers
  4. 1 6oz pkg coconut
  5. 1 6oz pkg. butterscotch chips
  6. 1 6oz pkg. chocolate chips
  7. 1 cup chopped walnuts
  8. 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  9. Bake in 350º oven for 20 minutes

Lemon Supreme Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg lemon cake mix
  • 1 pkg. vanilla or lemon instant pudding mix
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup oil

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients. Bake in 350º oven for 50 to 60 minutes
  2. Glaze: ¼ cup lemon juice, ¼ cup water, ½ cup butter, 1 cup sugar. Boil for 3 minutes. Pour over cake. Remove from pan before completely cooled.

Grand Marnier Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 3 eggs separated
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • grated rind of 1 orange
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup grand marnier
  • 2 tbsp slivered blanched almonds

Directions

  1. Cream butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolks. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with sour cream, beating until smooth. Stir in rind and chopped nuts. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into buttered 9 inch tube pan and bake in moderate (350 degree) oven for 50 minutes
  2. Mix 1/2 cup sugar, orange juice and grand marnier and spoon over hot cake in pan. Decorate top with almonds. Cool before removing from pan
