Baking Powder Biscuits – Linda

Yield

8-10 biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup margarine/butter
  • 1/2 cup milk

Directions

  1. Mix flour, salt baking powder. With pastry blender cut marg into flour mixture until small pea size portions. Mix in milk. Kneed 10 times. Using glass or biscuit cutter cut into biscuits. Bake in 400 degree oven 10 minutes or until done

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp baking powder
  • some salt – 1/2 tsp
  • 1 1/2 cups marg or butter
  • milk to moisten

Directions

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, salt. Cut in marg or butter. Add milk to moisten . Kneed,fold till you are happy. Cut with glass or biscuit cutters. Bake

Baking Powder – Sausage, onion, cheese

Use either Jim or Linda’s biscuit recipe.

Ingredients

Increases each recipe by half the amount – maybe

  • 1 lb bulk sausage – we like Jimmy Dean but others are also good.
  • i small to medium onion
  • 1 cup shredded cheese

Directions

  1. fry sausage and onions till sausage is cooked and onions are wilted. Drain
  2. Mix dry ingredients of biscuits, (2 cups flour, 3 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 cup marg)
  3. Add sausage, onion and grated cheese.
  4. Mix
  5. Add milk, Kneed,
  6. bake in 400 degree oven for app. 15-20 minutes until golden

2 hour rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups flour – scant

Directions

  1. Melt ½ cup shortening in ¼ cup scalded milk
  2. 1 egg beaten
  3. Add milk, shortening, egg and yeast mixture to flour, sugar, salt.
  4. Mix thoroughly. Knead a little then let rise 1 hour and form into rolls. Rise 1 hour more and bake in hot oven
  5. 450 degree for 10 to 12 minutes
